Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life With the Heart of a Buddha, by Tara Brach

“For many of us, feelings of deficiency are right around the corner. It doesn’t take much – just hearing of someone else’s accomplishments, being criticized, getting into an argument, making a mistake at work – to make us feel that we are not okay. Beginning to understand how our lives have become ensnared in this trance of unworthiness is our first step toward reconnecting with who we really are and what it means to live fully.” – from Radical Acceptance

“Radical Acceptance offers gentle wisdom and tender healing, a most excellent medicine for our unworthiness and longing. Breathe, soften, and let these compassionate teachings bless your heart.” – Jack Kornfield, author of A Path with Heart

The greatest impediment to realizing our True Nature is the superego, aka “the inner critic” and “the judge.” There are two primary ways of overcoming this barrier: confronting it or understanding it. Tara’s compassionate approach to working with the superego is most harmonious with Heartwork, and her book received the most votes by the people who responded to our request for their three favorite books.

The group will meet every 3rd week (via Zoom for out-of-towners, in my office for locals) for 12 sessions (36 weeks). We will do our best to find dates that everyone can participate who wants to. Please let us know your ABSOLUTE NO dates for October 2017 through June 2018 when you register.

Each session will last for two-and-a-half hours, and will follow the following format: We will start with a short meditation, followed by a discussion of the chapter read during the previous month. Then, we will break up into threesomes to do inquiry around what was brought up for you and how the material in the chapter affected you. Finally, we will reconvene for a discussion and guidance regarding what arose for you in your inquiry.

We will meet every 3rd week to make it possible for those in my inner work groups to participate in both groups. The inner work groups will, consequently, also meet every 3rd week instead of every other week while the book study group meets.

The fee for the 12-session group is $500, $450 if registered by September 1st. Payments can be made all-at-once or 50% upon registration and 50% after 6 sessions. Scholarships and work-study are available on a limited basis. If you are interested in either of these, please apply upon registration. To register, please email Marie at mariemirabella@gmail.com.

If you have any questions about the program itself, please feel free to email me here.

Blessings,
